With huge tourism potential, this Central American country is rated as one of the most visited international destinations. One of its main sources of revenue is tourism.

It has the privilege of being the habitat for 5% of the biodiversity existing in the world and 26% of its territory is protected using diverse conservation modes.

With a distance of just 200 miles, Costa Rica extends majestically from the Pacific Ocean to the Caribbean Sea. Its land portion occupies just 20,000 square miles.

  • Political Divisons: Independent Supreme Branches: The Executive Branch, the Judicial Branch, and the Legislative Branch. Costa Rica DOES NOT have an army.

  • Capital: San Jose, located in the country’s Central Valley

Roadways: The whole country is well connected by roadways. The main highway is the Interamerican Highway, which runs from Peñas Blancas (Nicaragua) to Paso Canoas (Panama).

Voltage: The voltage for residences is 100.

Climate: The climate is tropical with an average temperature of 22º C (72º F). The temperature rises considerably on the coasts; however, the country has micro-climates with constant changes in temperature due to factors such as geographic location, altitude, and the formation of mountain ranges, mountains, and valleys.

In general, the climate in Costa Rica is very pleasant during both the dry season (running from December to April) and the wet season (running from May to November). During the wet season, it usually just rains in the afternoon while the mornings are sunny.
